Refund Statement

Online donations

Thank you for choosing to donate in support of medical research. QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute (QIMR Berghofer) has a commitment to honouring and respecting the financial contributions people make to us. In adherence to our principles of transparency, we have prepared the following statement with regards to refunding a donation.

Errors in amount given

Should an error be made in the amount of any donation, you have 60 days in which to notify QIMR Berghofer of the error and request a refund.

Refund requests

All requests for refunds must be made in writing and forwarded as follows:

Email
supportus@qimrberghofer.edu.au
Fax
07 3362 0102
Mail
Fundraising Department, Donor Care
Locked Bag 2000
Royal Brisbane Hospital 4029

With all requests, please ensure you include details of the initial donation including the date, amount, name of the donor, the receipt number (if available), the nature of the error and best contact telephone number in case we need to discuss the refund further

Should the refund be approved, any original receipt issued for the incorrect amount immediately becomes void and invalid. A new receipt will be issued where applicable.

Change of heart on donation

We ask that you make your choice to donate carefully. Once you have made a donation to QIMR Berghofer we do not normally give refunds if you change your mind. We will of course endeavour to ensure that any genuine errors (such as the amount donated) are rectified.

QIMR Berghofer is a non-profit organisation and we reserve the right to deduct any bank or transaction charges for any refund processed onto the donor. Should an error be detected and a request for refund made after 60 days have expired, QIMR Berghofer regrets that we are unable to issue a refund.

Errors by us

Of course, should an error be made by QIMR Berghofer, full refund will be made immediately upon notification of the error and all costs will be borne by QIMR Berghofer.

Refunds relating to donations (QIMR Berghofer crowdfunding website)

Donors may opt in advance to have their donation refunded if the target for their chosen crowdfunding project is not reached at close of fundraising. In this instance donors will be provided with a refund within 30 days of that project’s closing date. Any donors who did not opt for a refund in advance will not receive any refund and donations will be transferred to their preferred area of research or that of greatest need. Any queries regarding crowdfunding project donations should be sent to supportus@qimrberghofer.edu.au.
